
Bernard Tampuli, has etched his name in the record books as the first Level 100 student to win the Inter-Halls Cross Country race in the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED).
At the end of the 10km race which serves as the qualifiers for the Ghana Universities Sports Association (GUSA) Cross-Country, Mr. Tampuli has set a new record by clocking a time of 32 minutes and 26 seconds, an improvement on last year’s time of 36.13 seconds clocked by Womborekye Noah.
Having exceeded expectations at the 2022 cross-country festival at the University of Health and Allied Science (UHAS), Ho, the young Tampuli and his colleagues are expected to achieve laurels at the 2023 GUSA Cross-country at the University of Ghana, Legon to be staged at the end of March, 2023.

As means of motivation, the participants were admonished to desist from the over-reliance on Indomie and concentrate more on natural foods and fruits to boost their energy and speed. They were also awarded certificates and cash prices during the climax of the event held at the University’s Football Park on Saturday, March 4, 2023.

In terms of rankings among the halls, Autonomy secured the first position with 31 points. They were followed by Amaniapong with 68 points. The third position was picked up by Opoku Ware II Hall and Atwima came fourth as they were not represented as a team during the event.

In attendance at the ceremony were staff of the university led by the Secretary to the Vice Chancellor.
