AAMUSTED Elections: Sika-Wiafe faces Malba in SRC Presidential run-off on March 3

The Interim Electoral Commission Boss, Issifu Mohammed has declared, Friday, March 3, 2023 as the date for the SRC Presidential run-off race between Sika-Wiafe Stephen and Malba Yaw Prince.

The announcement is in line with the provisions of the constitution that stipulates that within three days following the general elections, there shall be a run-off if any of the candidates, vying for the Student Representative Council (SRC) President, fails to secure 50 percent plus one vote.

Official results from the four polling centres made up of 16 Polling Stations, shows Mr. Sika-Wiafe to be in the lead with 1,472 votes representing 38.65% followed by Mr. Malba with 1, 236 votes translating into 32.45%

The 2023 SRC and Local National Union of Ghana Students (L-NUGS) was a keenly contested exercise which saw the election of various aspirants to the executive positions in L-NUGS and the SRC except for the position of the president.

At the end of the general elections which was held on Tuesday, March 1, 2023 at the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED), none of the five aspirants were able to amass the required number of votes to be declared as the SRC President.
